  • Drop-off of cleaned, UL-classified baffle filters sized to your hood
  • Pickup of soiled filters for off-site cleaning
  • Fit and coverage check on every exchange

Frequency

Exchange Frequency Aligned to Your Operation

Filter exchange cadence depends on your cooking volume and type. More grease-intensive operations need more frequent exchanges to prevent grease from bypassing the filters and accumulating in the hood and ductwork.

Your exchange schedule should align with your overall NFPA 96 Table 12.4 system cadence. High-volume kitchens (charbroiling, wok, 24-hour operations) typically exchange weekly or biweekly. Moderate-volume restaurants often exchange biweekly or monthly. Your Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) may require a stricter schedule. We assess your operation and recommend the right cadence at no charge.

FAQ

Grease Filter Exchange Questions

Why baffle filters instead of mesh filters?
Baffle filters are required by NFPA 96 for commercial kitchens. Unlike mesh filters, baffle filters force grease-laden air through a series of vertical channels that separate and capture grease by changing the airflow direction. They are more effective at grease removal, easier to clean, more durable, and — critically — they are UL-classified for fire safety. Mesh filters clog faster, reduce airflow, and are not compliant in most commercial kitchen applications.
How often should grease filters be exchanged?
Exchange frequency depends on your cooking volume and type. High-volume operations like charbroiling or wok cooking may need weekly or biweekly exchanges, while moderate-volume kitchens typically exchange on a biweekly or monthly cycle. We assess your operation and recommend a cadence that keeps your filters effective between professional exhaust cleanings. The goal is to prevent grease from bypassing the filter and accumulating in the hood and ductwork.
Do you supply the filters, or do we need to buy our own?
We supply the filters. On each scheduled visit, we deliver clean, UL-classified baffle filters sized to your hood and pick up the soiled set for off-site cleaning. You do not need to purchase, stock, or clean filters yourself. We verify fit and coverage on every exchange to make sure your hood is fully protected.
What does UL-classified mean for grease filters?
UL-classified means the filter has been tested and listed by UL (Underwriters Laboratories) to meet fire safety and grease extraction standards. NFPA 96 requires that grease filters used in commercial kitchen exhaust systems be UL-classified. This ensures the filter performs safely under the heat and grease conditions of a commercial kitchen. All filters we supply meet this requirement.
